Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
